PBB Has Candidates List Ready For Sarawak Polls

KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) grassroot leaders and supporters have been told to be ready to campaign via social media platforms for the upcoming 12th Sarawak election.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas who is PBB deputy president said the state election would be full of new challenges as Sarawak was still facing the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said leaders and supporters must remember there would be a number of restrictions in place when making preparations for the state polls.

"For instance, we (likely) will not be able to hold any mass gatherings for campaigning like we used to.

"We will have to rely on social media platforms, video conferencing and others to get our messages to the voters.

"We need to have good presentation skills and all the latest information on the government's policies and plans to disseminate to win their support," he said at a dialogue session at Rh. Legum in Serugup, Debak yesterday.

Uggah reminded the people to abide by all the standard operating procedures (SOP), which will be decided by the Election Commission and Health Ministry during the election period.

He also said he believed the voters in Saribas would again make the right decision to ensure more development and progress in their constituency.

Uggah also announced government grants totalling RM128,000 for a flood mitigation project, a farm road and fund for the longhouse security and development committee and its women bureau.

Meanwhile, Saribas state assemblyman Mohd Razi Sitam who was also at the same function, said the people should give the mandate back to the government.

He said the state GPS government is one formed by local leaders from local political parties."

"As we are all aware, it is still working very hard to claim back the state rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 which have been eroded over the years."

"Our chief minister and members of his cabinet too have done a lot to bring more development and progress. They are certainly in the position to do even more.

"As such they deserve our every support through the ballot papers. Let us again give all GPS candidates the opportunity and time to achieve even greater things for the state," he said.
